New Bircher Muesli Option for Breakfast

Our breakfast just got even more delicious with the addition of our new Bircher Muesli at the Killarney Park Hotel. A wonderful and healthy option, this Swiss style muesli can be made at home, so we’re sharing with you our secret recipe; here goes:

Bircher Muesli Recipe


1.5 kg oats

1 litre milk

1 litre orange juice

100g fresh lemon juice

450g grated red apple

450g grated pear

450g raisins

450g dried cranberries

300g sugar

Mix all of these together and leave to soak overnight.

After 12 hours of soaking, add the following ingredients:

1kg yoghurt

100g sweet condensed milk

300g honey

100g chopped hazelnuts

100g chopped walnuts

100g chopped almonds

Delicious, healthy and can be eaten at any time of the day! Bircher Muesli was created over a century ago by Swiss doctor, Maximillian Bircher-Benner, as part of a healing therapy for his patients. The key to original Bircher Muesli is to soak it overnight to achieve a far chewier consistency. This improves the digestion and the absorption of this nutritious muesli.
